Rockhopper Penguins, Bleaker Island
Fantastic trip to the Falkland Islands in January. This was to celebrate one of us being 50. I am too much of a gentleman to say who... (OK, it was me). We visited 4 of the islands (Bleaker, Sea Lion, Carcass and Saunders as well as visiting Volunteer point). The wildlife is fabulous. It is approachable and with time and a little luck some great behaviour can be observed and photographed. I will be adding more photographs to this site in due course as well as keeping Facebook "fed and watered" with shots from time to time too. These little fellows were (probably) the stars of the show; Rockhopper penguins. This gang were on Bleaker Island and may appear to be acting like some heavies from a movie but in reality they are wonderfully curious birds who jump up and down the rocks to get to and from the sea. They are small so to get eye level shots requires bit of rolling around in the rocks that are a lovely shade of white and smell a little fishy for some reason....*

These were Sarah's favourites and I had to check her luggage to make sure none had fallen in by accident.

* I have a pair of waterproof trousers and top for sale. One careful(?) owner.....
