About Phil Jones
Phil Jones was born in Cardiff. He lived in England (mainly on the south coast) before returning to Wales and Cardiff for a spell in university. Following a series of jobs in Wales and south east England he now lives and works in Aberystwyth and has done since 1995. He is married to Sarah and has two grown-up children. Phil's work has been displayed in the Welsh Artist of the Year exhibition, Take a View (Landscape Photographer of the Year) and British Wildlife Photography Awards. In 2012 he won the urban category of this competition with his photograph "Starlings watching the starlings". In 2018 his photograph of a striated caracara landing on a beached killer whale dorsal fin was shortlisted in the people's choice awards in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year (Portfolio 28) competition. In 2020 he retired and started work on Tangarreg Pools.
